Kingdom in the Community is a national event aimed at exploring ways to strengthen and sharpen our work to practically love our neighbours.
Held the day before the Baptist National Hui (5-7 November) it will lean into the Hui theme of ’Til Kingdom Come and is hosted by Visionwest and Baptist National Leader Chris Chamberlain.
You can expect a range of voices, experiences and ministries from across the motu, as well as special guest and social justice advocate Tim Costello from Australia.
Throughout the day will be breakout sessions on housing, our Treaty partnership, mental health and building a coalition, interspersed with scripture and song.
This is an excellent opportunity for churches, trusts and ministries of all sizes to dig deeper into what it means to be agents of reconciliation; to listen and learn and be encouraged and invigorated about our mission for our communities.
Tim is a Baptist minister and former Chief Executive Officer of World Vision Australia. He has worked as a lawyer and served as mayor of St Kilda and has authored books on faith and life.
Visionwest is New Zealand's largest non-government family support organisation, providing rental accommodation, community support, and wraparound services to people in need. Visionwest began in 1982 with a small group of visionaries from Glen Eden Baptist Church in Auckland.
