THE HYPE

National Hui 2024 is when we start talking about how we might live out the Gospel together. What is it that God wants us to be known for? What things must shape us? What social, economic, and environmental challenges will we actively confront? And what will all this mean for our priorities and practices?

Our God is renowned for his unwavering commitment to justice, mercy, and humility. Our Saviour fearlessly confronted injustice, standing as a beacon of truth and compassion in a world often shrouded in darkness and oppression. Our Baptist origins are marked out by radicalism, by challenging the status quo, and by advocating for those for whom life is hard.

Come to National Hui 2024 and help us shape our future.

Gospel Impact Labs

Here’s your opportunity to get strategic and creative. At these 10 labs we want to collectively create tools for our Baptist local churches to use to achieve gospel renewal. The idea is for you to join the lab to which you think you could contribute most.

The lab options are Faith Sharing; Community Engagement; Connect and Serve Marae; Empowering Young People; Welcoming Immigrants; Power of Prayer; Develop Leaders; Climate-Crisis Action; Political Engagement; Good Stewardship

These labs will run on Saturday afternoon and will be facilitated by people from the Baptist movement.

Big Bite Consultation Updates

Over the past 12 months, we have been working together on significant areas of change. We made some decisions at last year’s National Hui on what we called ‘Big Bites’, and following that, working groups have been busy on two areas: Constitution Review and Serious Misconduct Process, which had a three-month consultation process from May to July including discussion at this year’s Regional Hui.

National Hui 2024 is a time to continue the conversation and vote on some changes.

Constitution Review

Serious Misconduct Process

And, as always, there will be plenty of great food and stimulating conversation. Don’t miss the Baptist Women’s Breakfast (7 am Friday) and the Sutherland Lecture (7 am Saturday), yet more opportunities to hear and learn from different voices in our movement.
