Luke Schroder is the Programming Manager for Northern Easter Camp. Easter Camps are a BIG part of being young people in Baptist churches, they are packed full of worship, world-class communicators, live music, sports competitions, seminars, creative arts, talent quests and many other fun and engaging activities.
Every year at Northern Easter Camp we see masses of young people coming together for a weekend of adventure, fun, God-encounters, and a whole lot of joy. For thousands of those young people, Sanctuary Worship is always a highlight of their time at Easter Camp. It’s a space where the musicians move into the centre of the arena, strip back the arrangements of songs, and gather the crowd closely around in a creative expression of worship. It’s worship that feels raw, immersive, and deeply personal. It’s not about lights or stages, but instead it’s about shifting focus to create space to encounter God as one body.
Now, we’re excited to be taking that experience beyond Easter Camp and sharing it with more communities.
Sanctuary Worship is going on the road, bringing unique united worship nights to regions across the North Island. Our heart is to create safe, Spirit-filled spaces where youth, young adults, leaders, and parents from all kinds of churches can gather to worship Jesus together.
Our first regional night took place in July at Gracecity Church in Auckland, and it was a powerful beginning. Over 400 people from across the city braved the wet Auckland weather and came along for a beautiful evening of community centered around worshipping the Creator. What stood out most was the spiritual hunger in the room — a deep desire to meet with God and to be part of something bigger than just one church or one night. It reminded us again that there is a movement stirring in this generation and a desire to boldly chase after His goodness.
Next up, we’re heading to Tauranga to share Sanctuary Worship with the Bay of Plenty.
Join us on Sunday 28 September 7-9pm at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Tauranga. The night will feature gifted musicians, worship leaders, and creatives, coming together to lead us in a night of worship and encounter. There’ll be food and drinks available for sale, and the chance to connect with others from across the region. Open to all ages.
