We are looking for a person who is passionate about making the church a place where children and their families feel like they belong and can contribute to the life and witness of the church community.

We’re looking for someone who can support and encourage our parents as they seek to disciple the children in their care, connects with children and families in our wider community and helps us a church to better integrate children and their families into the life of our church community.

The role will be responsible for:

• Resourcing and supporting the parents and other volunteer leaders who are involved in supporting children’s discipleship
• Helping to ensure PBC is a safe place for children and young people
• Contributing to the overall vision and direction for PBC and working with other members of the pastoral team and ministry leaders to help foster a culture of intergenerational discipleship in the church
• Facilitating the church to find and take opportunities to serve families in the wider community

Petone Baptist is a mid-sized family church located in the vibrant and diverse community of Petone, Lower Hutt. We focus our activities around three key images:

Safe Harbour – being a place where all people belong, where we can safely practice worshipping and prayer that connects us with God

Mending the nets – a community of people journeying deeply with each other modelling the values Jesus taught

Sending church – a community committed to loving others into wholeness, we desire to see freedom from anxiety and social isolation

This is an exciting time for our church as we are currently looking to add two people to our pastoral team. As well as the Families Pastor described above, we are also advertising for a part-time Youth Pastor (0.6 FTE). Together with the current Senior Pastor, this pastoral team will help to guide the church into its next phase of life and mission.
