Māngere Bridge Baptist Church is a culturally and generationally diverse community church in Māngere Bridge: Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland. We are looking for someone to join our Pastoral Team with a particular focus on the tamariki and whānau of our church and wider community; providing leadership in the development of an intergenerational practice of discipleship and Christian formation.

The ideal candidate for this role will:

  • Have a deep love of Jesus and passion for his Church.
  • Carry a strong sense of call to pastorally serve the people of Māngere Bridge Baptist Church.
  • Be familiar-with and inspired-by the ‘Foundations of Ministry and Mission with Children and Families’ (document included with the Job Description on our website).
  • Demonstrate strong theological competency in support of the position.
  • Have a gifting for working across cultures.
  • Be a team player and capable leader and developer of teams; working alongside the existing pastoral team and ministry leaders to achieve the desired outputs of the ministry.
  • Carry a heart for families beyond the walls of the church; helping us to serve our wider community.

The role encompasses three current areas of focus:

  1. The leadership of the existing Bridge Kids (ages 3 to year 6) ministry including programming and delivery of material, responsibility for the volunteer leaders, oversight of Health and Safety and key oversight of pastoral care for our tamariki and their families while:
  2. In partnership with the Pastoral Team and Ministry Leaders, resourcing and providing leadership toward an integrated practice of intergenerational discipleship and Christian formation.
  3. Collaboration and development alongside other Ministry Leaders in the outward facing work of our church including:
  • Providing key leadership and support to current community whānau-focussed ministry. E.g Mainly Music.
  • Initiating whānau-focussed programming through the church in service of the community (e.g. parenting courses, holiday programming).
  • Helping to plan and facilitate key community-facing events (e.g. yearly Block Party).
  • Exploring connection with our local primary schools in helping us to position ourselves in service to the families of our community.

 

At 0.5 scale, the expectation is for primary focus on numbers 1 and 2, with all three pieces essential to the full-time position.
