About this role

Full-time

Titirangi Baptist Church is a church whānau called in Christ, to community, to the world, to God’s glory.

We are a multi-generational church who have recently celebrated 70 years in the Kaurilands Valley. We meet at The Crossing Community Centre, the home of TBC.

Every Sunday we welcome around 190 adults and youth and 60 children to our regular service, and various ministries run throughout the week. They include TBC Youth, where 50+ youth gather on Tuesday nights, Friday night Youth Drop-in, Mainly Music, the Weekly Grind (caregivers and kids café), Evergreens (seniors ministry), and various one-off ministry and serving events.

We also have the privilege of serving in our local community through 24/7 Youthwork at Green Bay High School and more recently at Glen Eden Intermediate School.

The Crossing is used during the week by various groups and community organisations, and we hope to continuing growing and nurturing these connections and our reach into the community.

We want to be a body of people who build each other up and love our neighbours, so that the world can see that love and know Jesus through it.

We are seeking to call a Senior Pastor to join our collaborative staff team and our community. We believe this person will be both a servant and a shepherd of God’s people, someone with a living and active Christian faith, deep theological and Biblical knowledge, the ability to communicate, teach and preach in an effective and engaging way, and a commitment to listen to and engage with people from all walks of life and a diverse range of cultures and ethnicities.

The key responsibilities of this role will include providing Christian leadership and vision for TBC as a whole and servant leadership for the staff team, teaching and pastoring, inspiring and equipping people for Gospel ministry, and ensuring effective operational outcomes.

Preferred candidates will have suitable qualifications and experience for this role, including:

  • a minimum of bachelor’s-level degree in a relevant discipline such as theology or ministry;
  • several years of relevant experience in Christian ministry, especially pastoral roles, with a demonstrated track record of servant leadership, the ability to lead and empower a team, and to work responsively with elders exercising governance oversight;
  • wholehearted agreement with TBC’s Statement of Faith;
  • the ability to operate within and participate fully in Baptist convictions, policies and practices and participate in wider Baptist networks.
