We are looking for a person with a passion and desire to see young people transformed by a relationship with Jesus Christ, a person who is called to youth ministry, loves young people, and has a commitment to the wider church.

We’re looking for someone who can lead our youth leadership teams as they seek to walk alongside and mentor the young people in their care, connect with young people in our wider community, and help us as a church to better integrate young people into the life of the church community.

The role will be responsible for:

• Developing and supporting the youth ministry leadership teams as they support young people to grow in competence, confidence, connection, character and caring.
• Facilitating young people to encounter Jesus and grow in their relationship with him in the context of community.
• Connecting with young people beyond the church community by supporting the church’s 24/7 youth workers and connecting with other community-based youth work organisations. This may include working up to 2 days a week within a community-based organisation alongside these existing youth workers.
• Developing contexts in which young adults can grow in relationship with Jesus, each other and the wider church community
• Contributing to the overall vision and direction for PBC and working with other members of the pastoral team and ministry leaders to help foster a culture of intergenerational discipleship in the church.

Petone Baptist is a mid-sized family church located in the vibrant and diverse community of Petone, Lower Hutt. We focus our activities around three key images:

Safe Harbour – being a place where all people belong, where we can safely practice worshipping and prayer that connects us with God.

Mending the nets – a community of people journeying deeply with each other modelling the values Jesus taught.

Sending church – a community committed to loving others into wholeness, we desire to see freedom from anxiety and social isolation.

This is an exciting time for our church as we are currently looking to add two people to our pastoral team. As well as the Youth and Young Adults Pastor described above, we are also advertising for a part-time Families Pastor (0.4 FTE). Together with the current Senior Pastor, this pastoral team will help to guide the church into its next phase of life and mission.
