Whangamata Baptist Church is situated in the beautiful coastal town of Whangamata on the Coromandel peninsula. The town has a small permanent population of around 5000 people, but this swells dramatically during the holiday season. Our church reflects this – on a typical Sunday our congregation sits at around 60-70 people, but many visitors join us over the holidays or during special events such as the annual Beach Hop. Consequently we are seeking a full-time Pastor who will minster to the existing congregation but also be alert to the opportunities for evangelism that present themselves in this popular destination.

We are seeking a Pastor who:

• Has a strong gift of teaching and preaching
• Has a healthy personal prayer life
• Is able to communicate well with others
• Has a heart for outreach and ministry into the community
• Is able to relate well to people of different ages and/or cultures
• Will encourage church members in their personal walk with Jesus
• Has the ability to identify people’s strengths and spiritual gifts, to support them to develop these, and to encourage them into different areas of ministry
• Will care for the spiritual and pastoral health of our church family
• Is a collaborative team player

Previous pastoral experience in New Zealand is preferred. All applicants must have the right to live and work in Aotearoa New Zealand.
