About this role

Part-time (0.6 FTE)

We are seeking a Pastor to lead and direct our Worship area. Responsibilities include planning and leading worship, working with and developing worship leaders and teams including their pastoral support, involvement in planning our Sunday morning service, and developing vision for this area, across the breadth of DCBC. There would be a particular focus on our Sunday morning service, but also providing support and oversight of worship that occurs in other areas of the church’s life such as Youth Group and Young Adults.

Suitable experience as a musician is required.

This would amount to approximately 0.3-0.4 FTE of the role.

In addition, the role would also involve providing Pastoral Leadership in another ministry area, which would be selected based on a candidate’s experience, gifting, and passions. Some possible ministry areas are: our young professionals; our home group ministry; outreach to tertiary students; developing volunteer ministries, teaching and occasional preaching.

This role is located within the DCBC’s Pastoral Leadership Team, the group that has executive responsibility for leadership of the church. We have a team of six currently.

Background- about DCBC

DCBC is a relatively large Baptist church in Dunedin city that has attracted people from a diverse range of church backgrounds. We currently operate one Sunday morning service, but have been exploring the possibility of running an additional morning service and evening service. We have a strong children’s program and ministry to youth and young adults, blessing us with a wide spread of ages.

DCBC is committed to deep engagement with the Scriptures, vibrancy and stability of community life, ministry to the local community (including university students) and overseas mission. The church has a highly committed core membership many of whom lead significantly in our ministries. We are also seeking to grow our partnership with other churches in our region (particularly in the Baptist Association).
